THIS SUNDAY is the FIFTH SUNDAY of the year on which we have our CANDLEMAS CELEBRATION (following the Feast of the Presentation of Jesus in the Temple last Thursday) with a Children's Procession and Blessing of Candles, which marks for us the end of the Epiphany celebration of the spreading Light of Christ by celebrating the way his Light has reached our own churches and ourselves through our Baptism and Holy Communion.
YOU ARE REMINDED that those who are frail in body or health may be prudent not to receive the chalice at Holy Communion if they feel uncertain.
WEEKDAY MASSES are at usual times (weather permitting) this week, except at St Elizabeth's on Thursday. In very cold weather Most Holy Redeemer parishioners are asked to use the side door for entry.
NEXT SUNDAY is the SIXTH SUNDAY of the year in which the theme changes from the Epiphany theme to the new covenant formed by Christ through his redeeming death and resurrection, forming a preface to the coming season of Lent and Easter.
MOST HOLY REDEEMER parishioners who are interested in forming an ecumenical liaison group in contact with Great St Mary's are asked to contact Colette Kerins either after Mass or on 01279 842528.
THE ARCHBISHOP will be principal Celebrant this Saturday 11th February, the Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes, at 2.00 pm. The Sacrament of the Sick will be administered during the Mass by the Archbishop, Auxiliary Bishops and Priests who will be concelebrating the Mass. Those who are sick or infirm in either parish who would like to participate in this Celebration are asked to contact me as quickly as possible, as I need to pass on details to the Cathedral.
