Much Hadham's lovely Gothic Church, built largely between 1225 and 1450, is shared between the St. Andrew’s Church of England (Anglican) congregation and the Holy Cross Roman Catholic congregation. (See "History of Holy Cross Church").

Although our services are separate, both communities try hard to keep a strong spirit of Christian unity alive in the way we work out our Sharing Agreement.

Sunday Mass is at 11am (after the Anglican service), and we have weekday Masses normally on Tuesdays and Thursdays in the chancel (i.e. in the choir area beyond the rood screen).

At major Christian celebrations, such as Christmas and Easter, we come together for special acts of worship and social gatherings; we have joint parish retreats, discussion groups and prayer meetings in Lent and before Advent, and many other informal activities throughout the year. Most important to us is our spirit of friendship and joint Christian endeavour which we try to keep up in everything we do.

The partner Roman Catholic parish to Holy Cross is Most Holy Redeemer in Sawbridgeworth. Their Mass times complement those of Holy Cross, and are 6.00pm on Saturday evenings, and 9.30am on Sunday mornings. Holy Cross not only shares Fr. Bob with Most Holy Redeemer, but also social events and sacramental preparation programmes.

  Baptism

Congratulations! Traditionally, for Christians, the arrival of a new baby means a baptism.
That is part of our heritage, part of the special inheritance of your child.
